They offered the job to someone else much better suited for the job, frankly.
I had a State credit card at my prior job, never again, what a pain.
8 hours,,,,,,,,,I have no good feel for how much time it takes to learn our accounting software programs,,,,,,,,,I do know 8 hours doesn't even touch it.
Just making deposits,,,,,,that might be learned in 8 hours.
But if you do it all correctly, deposits, time sheets, invoices, transactions, payments, taxes, and on and on, the bill from the accountant at the end of the year is wayyyyy less than it can be if you dump it all on them in a big pile.
Can't imagine 1000 employees to track.
I was offered a transfer to a much bigger agency about the same time, if I needed a job it would've been the best job in that department but I decided to stay where I am. After that we took on 5-1/2 mile boundary project in the forest; I have just enjoyed the heck of that project so I'm glad everything worked out the way it did. The much bigger agency offers a lot more opportunity for promotions but money isn't the only consideration by a long shot.
