Where can I find data on a COE survey marker that I found on the property I bought? It's in Osage County Kansas. I already talked to the COE offices in Kansas City and Omaha they had nothing. Does anyone have other suggestions. I would add a picture but I can't.
There seems to be two USACE lakes in that county, Pomona and Malvern. You could try the project offices at each, depending on which it is closer to. I do not know anyone in that district, but I assume they have a survey or geospatial office at headquarters. The level of helpfulness varies by district, that seems to be a smaller district so they may not have a lot of personnel in survey.
All the COE monuments I tie into locally show up on their plan sets.
Those I got from the city years ago.
The monument may be only a control point, or it's possible that it's marking a taking limit. Usually, the taking will be granted to the local government, so even if the monument isn't called in the deed, you often can figure out what it is from the deed.
Do you remember that scene at the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark in the government warehouse? Yeh, it's going to be like that.
They have a website that is hit or miss on a data base of marks. You use to could search by lat long or name I have had success and then other times no luck. If you posted a picture of the stamping of the monument I might could do a search as well.
I think I have a lead, the USACE had some environment work done here over the years. If I can find the right document I should be able to get the name of the contractor how did the work. Then go from their.
Thanks all and OleManRiver, I found the web site U-SMART, It has three NGS markers that was set back in 1960 that I'll look for, but nothing of the one above.
