Does anyone have a Leica GFZ3 diagonal adapter they will part with for less than the cost of a contract to take out certain unpleasant "world leaders"? ?ÿFar East based companies are offering knockoffs for a lot less; unbelievably confusing bunch of similar appearing products, with without shipping, prices from low 2 digits to over $448, phony Leica logos and carry cases, etc.

I'd rather have an original if I can find/afford one. ?ÿIf not, I guess I'll keep my tripod legs well extended.

Thanks for looking,

Jim

This chap in the Netherlands (name is Guy) has a bunch of the original Wild ones.

I believe the Wild GFZ1 is the same as the Leica GFZ3.

I think I paid around $300 for mine, so he isn't giving them away, but they are the real deal and he disassembles, cleans and checks them.

The inverted image versions look exactly the same, and he mistakenly sent me one at first - so make sure you shake him by the ears and be absolutely clear what you are after! He is a good man though.?ÿ

@cf-67?ÿ

Thank you! ?ÿI have just written to them to inquire.

Please don't hesitate to tell me of any others, especially used ones here in the USA.

The dealer in the Netherlands came back with $500 plus $40 for US shipping. Probably more than I can handle.

Sorry that didn't work out for you - that's a bit of a price increase since a few years ago..

What is a Leica dealer asking for a new one?

For hobby use, I would be tempted to try a knockoff - you never know, they might be ok.

BTW I have actually purchased from Guy and would do so again. My experience is that his prices are very reasonable. It may be expensive compared to the knockoffs, but they literally are no longer making the items that he sells.

I just received a GFZ3, allegedly genuine, from an eBay seller. ?ÿIt certainly LOOKS good and OEM, logo, part #, etc. ?ÿCouple of questions if you would any or all help out:

How do I attach it to the TS12? ?ÿIt came "open box", no instructions and, sadly, no counterweight although a Leica tech in MI told me it may not be needed for the TS12.

How can I tell if it is a knockoff vs OEM? ?ÿIt was represented as Leica on ?ÿeBay and I used my Amex card, so I have recourse but I don't know how to tell?

Thanks! Jim

Found that on youtube - easier to watch someone do it than try to explain it.

I never needed a counterweight with a total station - I think that's for theodolites with a much lighter telescope unit.

Can you look up the item number on Leica My World?

Not sure if the genuine article actually has a Leica decal on it - though that might have changed over the years.

IIRC the counterweight is for the 1200 series of instrument. I've never used the weight on the TS06 I use.

?ÿ

I'm holding the eyepiece in my hand right now. It feels quite nice and solid, smooth matte finish, smooth optic adjustment, no red Leica script on this one. If I had a gram scale I'd weigh it for you.

@kjypls?ÿ ?ÿTake it to the post office and have them weigh it for you.

I think a diagonal eyepice is essential with any instrument and cannot believe why they aren't included with the initial buy.

?ÿ

I use mine (with a Sokkia) very often. No more neck pains

@beuckie?ÿ

I would agree. We're going to be using it for farm bldg construction, tall stuff. ?ÿI can only imagine what my neck would feel like without this device.

As you all may know, a lot of the Chinese knockoffs also have perfect Leica logos on them, pretty as a picture. ?ÿIt's pretty obvious we're not talking about Apple, since they would've flown in a horde of lawyers to Beijing to squelch such behavior. ?ÿOr the estate of Elvis Presley....

?ÿ
