Since I didn't exactly come from a "surveying family," I can't say the classic quote of "I've been surveying since I was strong enough to hold a prism pole"... but my son can. He is pictured below at 2 years old helping me stake out our house corners before construction. His favorite parts are using the measuring tape and hammering laths...no kidding, he is not a bad chainman for rough work. ???œ?ÿ

This is near Fordtran, Tx on family land where my wife and I are building our home.

Assuming that's a 4 foot long, that's a big good looking 2 year old.

Haha, thanks, ya he is a big kid, but I had the age wrong. This pic was 3 days after his 3rd birthday.

I worked with this guy grading State specific exams for several years and met his daughters. One of them took the LSIT when she was something like 13 (I don't think she passed), I haven't seen him since 2011, the last year we graded the exam under the old format.

None of mine ever showed the least interest in surveying.?ÿ I might have quietly taken some insult at that, but none of them have shown much interest in any kind of work, so at least I know it's not just surveying that turns them off.

My youngest wanted to be a mechanical engineer. He's now been a crew chief for 5 years and loves it! The picture is of him surveying in California this past year on a large boundary.
