Need a competent office person to keep up with our workload and keep me out from behind CAD too much.
The skinny: small survey department in a small civil firm. Lots of development work, so there will be lots of interface with that kind of work. Platform is Carlson 2015- if you're coming from a LDD/Civil 3D background you'll be just fine.
The not-so-skinny: My preference would be to find somebody who has spent most or all of their time to this point in a small firm. You ever ripped a pair of pants on a barbed wire fence? Know how to fix a schonstedtt? Ever had to pick the boss' kids up from school because he got stuck in a meeting? This is your kind of job. It's a great bunch of people to work with, the office environment is about as laid back as it gets, and you'll have a boss who isn't gonna bust your arse about your haircut or being 10 minutes late. If you know how to write a good legal description (my way, of course), can dig up that old 1904 deed that 3 title companies missed, have a good idea of why I shot that topo the way I did, and show that you can be trusted to get the things asked of you done, you'll like this gig. If you're a CAD wizard, that's fine too, but that shouldn't be your strongest trait.
You'll be compensated fairly, bennies are adequate (i'll pay for survey-related educational expenses), and you'll be given a pretty good amount of latitude to be a competent member of the company. Plus, you'll be working with a surveyor (and some engineers) whose names are on some incredibly interesting work in the area.
Extra consideration for anybody skilled in constantly irritating civil engineers...

I am tempted to apply. Lol
I'm tempted to apply too. Shouldn't be too hard to find some competent workers here, Austin's full of 'em.

Seeing as the firm I work with is mostly engineers I consider myself an expert when it comes to irritating civil engineers. Shame I'm already licensed!
