Land Surveyor
ACES (Arnold Consulting Engineering Services, Inc.) is a fast growing Civil Engineering & Land Surveying Firm located in Bowling Green, KY. We have more than doubled in size over the past 7 years. We are looking for an experienced surveyor (LSIT or PLS/RLS in KY/TN preferred but not required) who possesses a high motor with the drive and ambition to excel and advance within our company. We prefer an individual who is prepared to conduct various types of land surveying duties with little to no assistance, who is familiar with the Minimum Standards of Practice for Land Surveyors in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and the Rules of Tennessee State Board of Examiners for Land Surveyors, and who has experience developing boundary surveys, subdivision plats, ALTA surveys, topographic surveys, etc. from start to finish with little to no assistance.
Primary Duties
- To work under the direction of the survey department manager in overseeing the timely and efficient completion of various surveying projects.
- If licensed, overseeing various types of boundary surveys start to finish, ensuring quality control and compliance with standards of practice for land surveyors in the state of Tennessee and the Commonwealth of Kentucky & certifying surveys.
- CAD Drafting of topographic, boundary & ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys.
- Demonstration of good judgement and thorough knowledge in the application of survey principles.
- Researching existing survey records, interpreting plans, plats & deeds.
- Collecting, processing, interpreting and correcting (when necessary) field data measurements and data for engineering and surveying projects.
- Managing survey projects and ensuring the timely & efficient delivery of same.
- This position will consist of 90% office work and 10% field work.
Requirements
- A minimum of 3 years experience in a land surveying position with a surveying and/or engineering firm.
- Preferred but not required: college degree in survey related field with a minor or certificate in surveying. College degree is NOT required.
- Must be physically capable of navigating rugged terrain for the purpose of performing the collection and QA/QC duties outlined above.
- Knowledge of and experience with interpreting and writing legal descriptions.
- Experience in applying sound survey principles in making judgement calls and interpretations of deeds & plats for the completion of boundary surveys.
- Knowledge of and experience with traverse computations, analysis and adjustments.
- Experience in reading and interpreting construction drawings for the purpose of working up construction staking data (preferred but not required).
- Must be willing to travel to remote project sites. Overnight stays should not be necessary but are a possibility, such circumstances would include a company vehicle and travel & food expenses covered.
- A strong sense of urgency, problem solving, skills in organization and prioritization and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
