More or less the title, I'm still green to the industry but am eager to learn more. My education included drafting, legal and field courses, though at my current company I largely work as the I-man in a two man crew so have not gotten to develop many of the office side skills. I currently live in NY but have housing planned for San Antonio once I can confirm I will be employed. Even if you don't have work for me I'd love advice on job hunting in San Antonio or even just in general when it comes to making such a big move. Thanks!
Texas is a 4 year degree state but the rumor at the last seminar was that the new board is considering dropping that to a 2 year degree requirement.

I appreciate the link, but if I'm being completely honest I'm not sure I'd be comfortable stepping into a crew chief position yet, my current firm is 90% boundary and ALTA work so I feel quite comfortable in those areas. But looking at what you guys are doing I don't think I have the skill base to adequately lead a crew. If there was an opening a little lower on the totem pole I'd be very interested. A firm like yours is really where I'm hoping to land; my current one is very small and it seems like you guys are using a lot of technologies that I've been very interested in since school but really haven't had the chance to get my hands on.
If you're interested then apply. We have an internal "university" and a wealth of training and development programs in place. At SAM you will have access to any software and hardware you can ever imagine. For what its worth being a crew chief working for a pipeline or T-line surveying requires zero survey skills - it's just topo so don't let that scare you off. Not that's not all you'd be doing at SAM but in Texas but since Texas is growing faster than China most of the work right now is infrastructure driven. Feel free to send me your resume via PM.
