It Was Touched By Other Than The Surveyor

What they did without consulting??? Are you serious???
Welcome to the world of "The Cadmonkey". Get used to it. It will happen every day. Cadmonkeys do the grunt work and are consulted about nothing the "professionals" do with their work later on. We are talking line types and text fonts, not positional accuracy.
It would be preferable that in the "Drawn By" box they put both your initials and the initials of the "final drafter" though. Be sure to maintain personal copies of all the drawings that you do for them so when they come back later and tell you, "You drew this wrong", you can show that you didn't make the error. CYA.
Cadmonkeys feel that they are indeed creating a piece of art and are trying to represent their craft as best they can. Evidently we are wrong. There have been NUMEROUS posts on this very site that have flatly stated that what you produce is NOT a form of art and to try to do so is a waste of time. This is the true world of the Cadmonkey and the very best you can do is to learn to live with it.
I've been a Cadmonkey for 44 years and still have guys that passed their test last year try to tell me how to draw stuff. They really do not get very far and soon learn to back off.
Put out the best product that you can and do not worry about what the "smart" people do with it later on.

I remember back when I was working for the State of Alaska I did my very first subdivision, from start to finish. Ran the boundaries, reestablished a section corner from bearing trees, proportioned in missing corners, drafted the plat, set all the monuments. I was really proud of myself, felt like I'd finally arrived. But I wasn't yet licensed. The head drafter opened up the drawing and replaced my name and initials with his so that it looked like he'd done the work and my boss put his stamp on it. No mention of me anywhere, just another groveling hooded minion. I was ticked off, like someone had taken my work of art and added a little seagull in the corner and called it their own.

Years later another surveyor sent us a letter saying he had retraced a portion of the subdivision in question and commended us on the quality of our work. All I could do was smile.

Bleep happens. Get over it.

Just because I'm paranoid, doesn't mean they aren't out to get me.

Very seldom, if ever, do the field crews get noted on a survey plat. I have always thought they should be listed. That way the Cadmonkey can say,"Well that's what the Party Chief gave me to work with!!". Again, CYA. 😛
