Ok, I found my pouch and did some measuring. Total length is 14 inches, pouch depth is only 12". Welding rods are 14" for the 7018 and 6011's so most of the pouches will be the same 12" depth. Probably will not work that well with 18" pinflags without some modifications.

or Google "welding rod pouch". The problem may be finding one deep enough to hold the pinflags. It may be better to stop by a local welding supply with a handfull of flags and try one out.

That looks good.

It has to be lightweight but durable enough so the ends don't poke through, flexible tube-shaped and about 14" long with a belt (or prism pole) clip.

You just might have it.

I had them in the back zipper pocket of my Seco vest, which was ok, but a little carrier might be better. Does anybody know of one? I saw one that's like a mini stake bag, but I imagine they'd fall out of there quite a lot. I was thinking more like a PVC tube with a cap on the end and a karabiner to hook it onto the belt or something like that....

You guys are seriously over-thinking it. Here's my solution. I carry a 20"å± Fiskars machete in a leather sheath and I strapped a 8" x 1/2" piece of PVC pipe to it with some Gorilla Tape. In 6 year I think I've replaced the tape once. The flags stay fine as long as you keep enough in there. If you get low, they can drop out.

Not very proud of your flags, are you? Those are baby flags, reserved for itty bitty projects. Might be OK on sculptured lawns that never get over 2.0674 inches high.

I use this welding rod tube. It's 36" long and will hold a whole bundle of pin flags.

1. One 6"x6" long piece of velcro
2. Wrap around rod and insert wire flags between velcro and rod.

It's slick, and there is no loose baggage flopping around your waist, shoulders, etc.

I've made my own using a 2" PVC pipe, with a solvent welded screw cap to blank off the bottom.

I've use pipe clamps to clamp the tube to the rod.

I have placed well in excess of 500,000 wire flags since 1994 and in the vast majority of those places there were cattle or horses. I have never once seen or heard any complaints of the flags hurting the animals. The cows love to pull them out but I have never seen them hurt a cow. Not saying it is impossible but we often stick thousands of flags a week and I have never seen it.
