hi all,
I found this yesterday, and I like it! Does anyone know where to find something similar? My problem with the standard bearing tree plates, is I find myself placing them on utility poles, fence posts, and signs more often than actual trees.

You might try Ken Paul, down in Clark county. He's from that area and might know...

I'd be cautious about putting them on utility poles. Linemen see anything foreign on the pole as a hazard.

In our area it is illegal to put ANYTHING in or on a utility pole. Get caught and the fine can be a killer. Too many linemen have been cut up or injured by spikes and nails. If their climbing spikes cut loose, sliding down that pole is not a lot of fun. Been there done that in the Army. I was Commo Officer and my Sergeant told me that the Commo Officer HAD to be a pole climber. You know how that came out. Still have a scar on my right thigh WAY too close to Little Big Man for comfort. PLEASE DO NOT USE POWER POLES FOR TBM"S OR WHATEVER.

The tree will grow and swallow the nails and tag. I leave them out an inch or so.

tack in place with a 16d nail and leave the tag loose or at head of nail
