Here are the three simplest things that made doing VRS GPS easier for me.
1/ The cell phone pouch / holder is the plumb bob holder from a Leica tripod, just strapped onto the pole with cable ties..it has .....been there for 4 years now without coming loose.

2/ The stylus pen is attached to the TSC2 controller with a length of bathroom plug chain, also has never broken or got tangled in .....4 years..but the bath plug still has no chain on it...

3/ A spray can holder and flagging dispenser... imported from Seco.

This was late winter afternoon sun looking east over False bay at Fish Hoek, plenty of Great white shark sitings seen from up here and a few fatal attacks down below.

Regards

Lee

Should be safe from the Great Whites up there. Always wondered about the precision claimed when using real time, then see photos using it without a bi pod or at least some lath as braces to hold the rod steady while punching the buttons on the controller-data collector. That stuff on the belt looks fine to me. I have a survey belt that always has a 16 oz. plumb bob and 25 foot tape, start adding more and I wish for suspenders.

Not seen him for about a year, he has been busy compiling a geoid model for South Africa , we are currently using it and it seems quite good so far.

My oldest daughter was over there a few years ago on a Harvard/Columbia Fellowship and had dinner over at his house. Nice family.

We have had a run of two straight weeks with weather of about 17-22 deg C, unusual for this time of year, we normally get about 200mm of rain this month, I think we have only had about 10mm.

July & August normally lose about 5-10 days due to rain, but its been great.
