Is there any advantage to using a Jetpack over the hotspot feature on a smart phone for VRS/RTN connections? Thanks for any input.

I use my iPhone as a personal hotspot and can use my phone at the same time. I do not do this often but it does work.

Don't you get kicked off the network when your phone rings? I haven't tried it in a couple of years, but that was my experience.

It might depend, I think I can talk too, BUT only on a 4G network, not enough bandwidth on slower than that and I think it also device dependant, older devices of course being more limited in this aspect.

Could be, I do own and use a BB, BUT not for VRS, for that I have a dedicated GSM modem, I do use the wifi hotspot to simultaneously get my laptop online while talking on the handset.
