I am trying to tether a TSC2 to a Blackberry. I set the connection up under "My Connections". The TSC2 then asks for a number to dial (#777), then it wants a username and a password. I can't remember this. I can't call help at Verizon and get anyone to understand what I am talking about. Does anyone have a name and number for someone at Verizon that can help me.
User is the ten digit phone number @vzw3g.com and the password is vzw. Hope that helps.
We've tried that. It doesn't work. I need the name of someone at Verizon to talk to.
Do you specifically pay for tethering? If not Verizon disables it. Are you sure its not asking for a device access name/password instead of Verizon network?
Verizon & tethering on TSC2
I just got back from my new dealer because my R8 was giving me issues. I've never worked with an RTN or tried the cell phone gizmo, but the tech guy told me to get my AT&T Samsung 3S to talk to the the TSC2 & my rover, I need to get a thing called a "jet pack" from Verizon. Then I would be able to access the MI statewide RTN without a base. In AZ, I never had the luxury of a RTN in my area.
The phone has tethering, but the TSC2 needs the extra gizmo to make things according to Hoyle for the communication to take place. He said it was under $100, and they would have to upgrade my TSC2 for it all to happen which has a much higher fee.
Yes.
It works with one data collector. I cannot make it work with another one. Due to the password being *******'d out, I have no idea what it is. I have no idea who to talk to at Verizon.
Typically Verizon doesn't require a username or password for tethering since the phone handles the network authentication. Try clearing out username, password and domain. If it asks again, just leave blank and save again. Also, try pulling the battery on the blackberry. Sometimes the Bluetooth stack gets locked up in such a way that just turning the phone or rebooting it doesn't clear it up and pulling the battery is the only way. If neither of these fixes it, call Verizon and verify they haven't monkeyed with the account and turned the tether switch off.
I had trouble with this in the past and my Trimble dealer knew the AT&T password. You may try them to see if they know.
Glenn Borkenhagen (from his profile) is "Prez and Philosopher General of Inland GPS Inc., the Trimble survey dealer for Wyoming and Montana from 1996 to 2010." He's got some great cheat sheets on Trimble products and is quite knowledgeable. I know he's not a Verizon representative, but he might be able to steer you in the right direction. His email is in his profile.
In the TSC2 that is setup and working, open up the notepad or some other text app, then try selecting (highlighting) the password and then paste it as text in notepad. I'm not sure if that will work but I have done that in other situations where the text was hidden.
Tethering is not turned off.
Data collector A works fine.
Data collector B will not work.
