Indeed. Still, it seems that some deputy was a bit overactive. A word to him or his commander was certainly in order.
Seldom do. My 3 are exposed to the weather, welded a 1 1/2" X 3/8" bolt to the pins. That way I can manipulate them by hand if needed. Also carry wire stretchers, have two of those. Many other things such as first aid kit and usually 4 MRE's, bottled water and 5 or 6 gator aid type of fluid.

In some places it is illegal to carry firewood between states or even counties. The goal is to reduce the spread of damaging insects like the Ash Borer.
Bolt cutters. Extra locks. And I used to leave a business card undert the windshield wiper to let people know who we were. Been locked in by loggers on a couple of occasions. Some gates have locks/chains you can get past, some have pipe over the lock so bolt cutters won't work.
