Today I was in the middle of nowhere alone surveying using my side-by-side ATV.?ÿ I lost my iphone.?ÿ I backtracked for about an hour trying to find it, and then I received a spam call.?ÿ I heard it ringing,?ÿ lodged in a place behind my seat. I'd probably have searched another hour or two except for the spam call. I answered it, and it was one of the jillion auto warranty calls.?ÿ Those types of calls drive me crazy, except for this afternoon.?ÿ
Only other time I lost my phone was when I left it on the bed of my truck and it fell off on a farm road.?ÿ I tried to retrace my?ÿ route, looking for, it driving slowly.?ÿ Then suddenly it paired with my truck bluetooth, and I found it about a mile from where I realized I had lost it.?ÿ

Helo work for geophysics.
Back at hotel realize that I dropped my Motorola CP450 or what ever it was.
Expensive. And necessary.
Drive back to the drop/pickup location near the road we used to work from, and talked into the spare radio.
low and behold. my voice crackling out of the darkness of the desert.
always leave the ringer on and the volume high in field operations.

Glad your spam found your phone.

Dropped mine in a dead zone one time.?ÿ A black flip phone looks a great deal like a dirt clod.?ÿ Well, some of them weren't dirt.........................?ÿ Two of us searched for about 20 minutes before almost stepping on it.
I've never lost a phone but I did lose pager (remember those?) out in the woods one time.?ÿ No cell phones so I had one of the fellows go to a nearby pay phone and start calling the pager number.?ÿ It took about 30 calls (lots of quarters) but we did find it.

I have 2 phones. Last time I lost one called it after searching throughout the truck cab heard it, it had fell into a weird hiding place between the seat and the console.
Push button vehicles are another problem. Our crew trucks still require the key in the ignition but an extra helper brought a newer pool truck. He gets to hotel, shuts off truck, checks in, can??t find key. He drove back out in another truck to the parking spot in the woods and slowly walked the dirt road. Found it 500?? from the parking spot. Probably set it on the hood and it fell off. Only need the key fob to start new vehicles, not to drive away.
A coworker took his phone out of his vest, set it on the running board and forgot it. He found it later but it was run over by the truck when he drove away the first time.
My phone has a secure home in a pocket with Velcro flap on the side of my pant leg. Never lose it that way. Truck keys hang from a D ring down into a back pocket so at worse they fall in there. That??s the other issue, co workers can??t find keys, don??t you always keep them in the same place. Or I??m in the truck and every time they bend over the locks click. Unlock the truck go to open door, thunk door locked, what the??? LOL
Basically the same thing happened one time with a pair of reading glasses in a soft, brown case.?ÿ They had to be in the vehicle somewhere.?ÿ Looked here.?ÿ Looked there.?ÿ Looked places they couldn't be.?ÿ Finally, decided that the view down in one spot was perhaps more consistent appearing than it should be.?ÿ Took a long screw driver to insert from the side and discovered movement was possible.?ÿ It still took significant effort.?ÿ Next to the console.
My wife took her rings off in the car so she could put on hand lotion, and the rings were gone. We searched and searched - nothing. Grand-daughter with a degree in criminal justice told us to reconstruct the crime, so we sat in the car with little washers in place of the rings. Found them.?ÿ
I have lost a couple of pocket knives in my life.?ÿ I ALWAYS have mine in my pocket unless I'm going into a courthouse, airport, etc.?ÿ I've had to stash my knife in shrubbery more than once when I got to the courthouse before I remembered it was in my pocket.?ÿ I've found that the best way to find my lost knife is to buy a new one - it WILL show up.

Stopped carrying a pocket knife once I moved away from home and no longer had a need to cut the twine on square bales of hay being fed.?ÿ Ours were always too tight to simply jerk off around one corner.
Got in line at airport security. Realized my pocket knife was in my pocket. I ran outside and left it by a light pole in the parking lot. Went to Hawaii for a week. When I got back there was my knife still by the light pole with two other pocket knives beside it..
These work really well. SWMBO bought 3 of ??em. One for my phone, one for my wallet, and one super glued to me. ?????ÿ
Not going to ask for a photo of where she installed the thingy on you??ÿ Somewhere without hair, I would guess.

@skeeter1996 My local courthouse until recently only had metal detectors on the third floor where the courtrooms are located and you could access the building through four unguarded doors.?ÿ A few months back I went there and found all the doors locked and signs routing everyone to a new door at the side of the building.?ÿ Of course there were signs prohibiting weapons of any sort and the bushes haven't matured enough to be good hiding places.?ÿ So I decided to stash my lock blade pocket shovel under one of the fist sized flat river rocks that had been used instead of mulch in the landscaped areas.?ÿ I turned over four or five before I found one that was not already hiding someone else's knife. ????ÿ
