I've noticed that the surveyors doing resurveys for the GLO in Nebraska in the 1910-20's were titled U.S. Transitman and not U.S. Deputy Surveyor. Is this because there was no longer a Surveyor General?

The GLO went to the direct system. No more contracting. 1910 was the inception date.
