I have installed a SD card in the TSC2 Controller I do not know how to get the controller software to look for or recognize the card data.

Any suggestions or help would be appreciate?

Should be in the directory tree (windows explorer or from within survey controller) as "hard disk".

I assume you mean CF card. It should (if it is formatted as a drive) show up in the directory tree, same as USB drives.

My TSC2 has an SD card slot as well as 2 CF card slots (and 1 USB). Not sure if I've ever used it though.

I believe ours only have CF. I never knew any of the TSC2's had a SD slot, but ours are older (2006 I think). I have only used the CF slot with a GPS card. We use the USB port for copying data to an external thumb drive.

What is the capacity of your SD card?

Past experience indicates that the Trimble TSC2 only works with the SD "standard" cards, also referred to as SDSC for standard capacity. These only go up to 2 GB.

We heard from others who tried SDHC and SDXC cards in the TSC2 without success.

More information on cards is available from the SD Association.

In September 2013 eBay will probably be your best source for an SDSC card. It is very doubtful you will find one in any kind of retail store.

2gb SD. The card shows up in the pocket pc directory. I can transfer data back and forth via controller and PC. Just can't get to the directory via trimble software/application to utilize the extra storage let alone see the card.

Any thoughts?

OK, with your additional information I now understand that the operating system, File Explorer, ActiveSync, etc. see the SD card. That's good.

AFAIK, for a variety of logical reasons the Survey Controller application/software will only work with data files in the Trimble Data folder and its subfolders. I suspect Trimble Access and Trimble Survey Pro are similarly constrained but I dunno.

The Trimble TSC2 has lots of storage space in its main memory, so that was never an issue for any of our users.

If your main memory is running short, you could "park" on on the SD card any files/subfolders you were not using at a particular time to keep them in the handheld and quickly available. Large geoid files come to mind.

Or, you could certainly use the SD card for storing automatic backups as described in our document titled Installing and Using PIM Backup on Trimble TSC2 / Survey Controller

Glenn is right here, jobs are set up to only allow layers to be pulled in from the Trimble Data folder, i know you can change this to target sub-folders...

Note that the TSC2 folders can be changed by changing the folder in which you create the "new job", thus creating the job file in that folder. but for using for anything appart from the internal memory im stumped

The jobs get big over time and to keep making different jobs for an overall project gets time consuming. To utilize the storage card for multiple jobs would be good.
Just like a computer having multiple hard drives. Just not sure the software/application will allow for this transfer or option to open new jobs.
