I went and got the kit when I got in this morning, and found a stamp identifying it as a plumitless tribrach.

This carrier is the part we have. There seems to be no push to focus or secondary screw focus

I have a GZR103 that focuses push/pull. Maybe yours is stuck.

It screws in/out substantially, but that's the only mechanism. Its still impossible to focus both the reticule and target together.

Scratch that, a little greese poked in and its good to go. Never would have sorted this out alone, the leica rep for our area let us down hugely. The best offer for our 'half day training' supposedly free with our instrument was we could meet him in a car park somewhere near where he lived and ask him about a data issue I was having.

One of my Leica push-pull focus plummets won't stay focused, it always springs back when I let go. Having to push on it continuously while trying to slide the tribrach over the point is a nuisance. Any thoughts on how to remedy this?

Since these plummets aren't spring loaded, there has to be a pressure differential. If I were to guess, I would say that a pressure relief weep hole was clogged. I have no clue of how to disass4emble, inspect/repair and put back together. Do you have access to the manual?
