I have an occasional need to shoot long distance with an EDM on a robotic total station. Also I need to be able to mount a GPS on top of the prism. All of our single prisms (seco mini) have a 5/8" mounting bolt on top to be able to put GPS on top.

I was looking at a triple prism assembly, it has a bolt on top (I think it was for mounting more prisms). I wonder how a robot works with a triple prism. Will it autolock? Probably limited by the autolock range. But what if a shorter sight is made to one?

When I used a triple prism assembly in the past (non robotic), it was usually so far away that we just pointed at the center of the blob, if it was closer I would point to the space between the three prisms.

The only time I did it was about 3 miles, Leica 1102 to triple.?ÿ It couldn't lock, too far away, had to manually aim.

We use the triple holder with one prism in order to mount a Receiver above because they have the threaded post on top.
