I was wondering if anyone else has run into the following error when running a Trimble VX Spatial Total Station and Spectra Survey Pro Version 4.11.2 (or whatever, 4.11.2 is the version we are running) software.

I was performing a volume survey of some stockpiles and scanning them using the Trimble VX while using Spectra Survey Pro V4.11.2. All the field work went smoothly. I followed the suggested work flow detailed in the Spectra Survey Pro User's Manual and exported a .jxl file from the data collector.

When I brought the .jxl file into Trimble Business Center, all the other files came along with it as expected. This included the digital photographs (.jpg) captured by the VX during scanning and the Trimble scan files with the file extension .tsf. This is where the error occurred.

The scanning data was correct if during the fieldwork after I had done my station setup and backsight check, but before scanning I did some regular survey function first. For example, as long as I staked out a point or data collected a point prior to starting the scan the scan data came in correctly. And the .jxl file looked correct.

But if I made my set up, did a backsight setup and check, and went right into scanning, the data came into TBC as if it had been collected from the previous set up and based on the previous set up backsight direction. This is also what is report in the .jxl file.

To make things stranger, or I guess more consistent, if I did some standard surveying in the middle of my set up, the scans prior to the standard surveying, point staking or data collection, look like they were collected from the previous set up and the scans after the standard surveying look like they were collected from the correct set up. And this is reflected in the .jxl file.

I reviewed the raw data and the correct scan files are reported to be collected after the correct set up is listed in the raw data. For some reason the .jxl is not getting written correctly until I do some type of standard surveying.

I was wondering if anyone has seen this. Apparently, Spectra Survey Pro began supporting the Trimble VX with version 4.5 and supported all the way through until version 4.11.2. But once they released the new and unimproved version 5.0 they stopped supporting it and still don't support it with the current version. Maybe this is why?

I would appreciate any feedback.

Thanks,

CB
