I have two TSC2 data collectors, bought in 2006. Both have survey controller. One has a radio for communicating with a robot, the other does not. The one with the radio gets used all the time, the other is almost like new, only used a few times for RTK.

I dropped the one with the radio into the river the other day, off of a tainter gate on a dam. By the time I was able to go over to the project office, get them to get their boat, lock through with a barge, it was about 30 minutes. It was still floating. And it turned on. And I got the data file off of it. But the keypad was not working correctly. Maybe it just needs to be dried out. Anyway, we swapped the radio from that one to the other DC. But, the other DC doesn't recognize the radio.

Does anyone know if there is something that must be done to get the TSC2 to recognize the radio? It is in the shop, and they gave me a loaner, but I was just wondering why it isn't easily swappable.

I think that most of Trimbles hardware and software that runs on the controllers is tied or coded to the serial number of the tsc2 or tsc3.

You would probably need a code to unlock it.
