Hey all,
Im operating 2 Trimble R8 GNSS units, One as a Base and One as a Rover. I usually use an external radio to send out a signal, but that went down and when I switched back to trying to use my Internal Radio, something went wrong. Ive checked all my Bauds, channels, frequencies. I have even got the latest version of SurveyPro. The problem is that when I set up my receiver now in my Collector, it doesn't even give me the option to select an Internal Radio.
I was thinking that my Firmware has expired on my unit??? Could that even happen??? I checked the date on WinFlash and it gave me a date from a few years ago... I guess that I haven't used the Internal Radio in that time. Any suggestions???
Thanks
MJ

I have had the same problem on our R8 receivers. The radios used to work fine, than suddenly they stopped. I think it has something to so with the firmware expiring or a warranty issue? I have it scheduled to go in the dealer to see if they can figure it out.

Please keep us posted on that. I have two R8GNSS units, both of which are currently working just fine. Thank you for posting this question.
What models are they 1, 2 or 3?

Ours are R8-3. We get a message that no internal radio exists - which is a lie!
Are you able to create a "new radio" using an existing device? I know on my Leica equipment I couldn't do base/rover because it couldn't see my internal radio, so I had to create a "new" radio and select the device that it should have already seen, using all the same settings it had at default, and then it worked.

They are Model 2's

When you say they get a message of no internal radio exists, are you talking about on the WinFlash application, or on your Data Collector?
When i brought my units to the distributor, they were saying on WinFlash it was showing no internal radio, but they told me that if one was installed on the Model 2 unit, which trimble had as an option on the R8's then they could install the firmware @ $1800 per unit.
Internal transmit was optional on R8 Model 2s; if you don't have it enabled you'll have to pay the $1,800.
It became standard on the Model 3.
The Firmware expiration has nothing to do with the radio not working or any part of the unit. The only reason you may not have the option for internal radio is either the radio is bad, the unit does not have transmit option enabled or the firmware is locked up. If the later is the case, just hold downthe power button for ablout 20-30 sec until the GPS led lights up and let go. It will reboot the system.

I ran the WinFlash on both units and they were both displaying that there is no internal radio, which they both have. I have also held down the power button and reset both units at least 5 times.
Take a screen shot of the receiver Options in Winflash and email them to me. gg@geotx.com

Is there anyway to reset the unit through WinFlash??? My unit face won't let me hold down the button for an extended period of time.
When I go into WinFlash it does tell me I have a Internal Radio, but in survey pro it tells me that I don't.
When I get back to my laptop, I can try to send you a snap shot.
Thanks
There is no way for you to reset it. You can send it to me and I will evaluate the unit and let you know whats going on. Just go here and fill out the form.

That's not true you can reset it through GPS Configurator.
Sorry, I ment Winflash if you don't have the Supervisor version
Survey Pro might also let you reset the receiver. Also, have you tried other versions of survey pro?
When you connect through Winflash check what firmware version you are using. If you provide your serial number I can give you an idea of what firmware you can load. This might help. Same for you StLSurveyor.
Another idea would be to try deleting the receiver profile in Survey Pro, then reloading.
Here is a Screen Shot of my unit when i try and Load my internal radio. I hit next and it kicks me out. I can navigate every where else in WinFlash. But I believe these are the versions of software we got when we purchased the unit. As I said before, at one point my internal radio was working, then it wasnt.
I think I am just stuck. Did someone say also I could do a Hard or Soft reset in WinFlash?
