Can the Nomad be used as a data collector? I was wanting to run Survey Pro like on the recon.

The Nomad is just like the recon, only a better, more powerful version. Myself I prefer to have a full keyboard like on the ranger or tsc2, but the nomad is a pretty good machine.
It will run survey pro just fine.

This Nomad doesn't seem to be too powerful, only 128MB of RAM.

The reason the Nomads only have 128 Mb of SDRAM is that is all the OS - Windows Mobile 6.1 - will use. If they offered the unit with Windows Mobile 6.5, say, then they would probably put 256 Mb on it.

We use our Nomad as a DC daily. It's WAY faster than the recon and the learning curve is zip if you are used to using TDS. It's way cool.

I like TDS, but I would prefer to put Access or survey controller on it.

I see no reason that you couldn't do that.

Unfortunately Trimble doesn't offer the Nomad with Trimble Access or Survey Controller. That controller is only available with Spectra Precision (TDS) Survey Pro or Trimble MGIS software options.

That's fine. You can visit the link below and download the latest version of Survey Pro and run it in Demo Mode and the local Spectra Precision dealer can just provide you with the codes you need to run the full version.
