Heads up - Trimble are rolling-out the 2025.10 update for Access

There are few cute things, like 'Auto resection', that will make field work easier

Big improvements under-the-hood for GIS workflows - SHP, WFS and Properties/Attributes. (For me personally, this area is a Work-In-Progress and I'll be really keen to get your comments on what we have so far)

Plus a whole pile more.

Can they make a switch so I can disable the resection routine. I love resections but sometimes crews do not understand what and how and when to and when not to use them. I am looking forward to seeing the new GIS shape files functionality for sure. If they would just fix the TBC bugs I could be cranking out so much work.  My TBC has been down since last week. We can’t figure out what’s causing the coordinate system manager issue. I can cleanse it reinstall and all works fine and then all of a sudden bam it gives the error and can’t use it for anything. I been using my personal laptop with my personal license of TBC at work to reduce raw data qa/qc now for last week. Same version of TBC 2024.10. No issues at all. My IT guy has tried everything on my work computer we just cannot figure out the issue.

@olemanriver Your local dealer should be able to help you with TBC/Coordinate System Manager. Or drop me a line with the details. I dont work on TBC per-se, but I know the people to ask...

@jimcox yeah I ran the Trimble clean up tool removed the TBC completely. Downloaded the online version. Installed that. Removed the coordinate system manager with cleanup tool. Then reinstalled the latest version of it. It will work for a bit but seems to keep corrupting itself at any given time so then we are back to the same routine of removing it and reinstalling it over and over again. Doing this on other work computers as well. My gut said some security software is doing something causing this problem. But I am no IT person. I can only follow that guidance. My dealer has been very helpful just doesn’t know why it keeps doing this. Also I can’t use my Trimble access emulator anymore. So who knows.

My gut said some security software is doing something causing this problem.

That was my immediate response too.

Glad Autoresections is finally here as baseline in Access, on large projects it almost feels mandatory. I was surprised it wasn't built in when i swapped to a company running Trimble 5years back, prior to that I had a project across multiple buildings/floors etc with around 500 points.

Anyone know what prism is referred to here? Couldn't find anything obvious new in the accessories list Geospatial Accessories | Trimble Geospatial

Trimble Mini prism

Trimble Access 2025.10 supports the new Trimble Mini prism.

@lyset This auto resection is an eye catcher for sure. But how to keep the crews from using it on subdivision when all lots are equal dimensions and not pay attention to where they are is one of the scenario that scares me. Other than that I can see it as a very useful tool in the tool box.

The prism I think I am assuming is the mini 360 but not sure.

@olemanriver re: CSM on TBC.  There are issues with conflict between old Pathfinder Office residing on the same machine as TBC.   Might not be your case, but disappearing CSM is one issue.  Remove Trimble PFO.

@gisjoel We don’t or have never had pathfinder office on this machine. TGO and Pathfinder office also had some conflicts back years ago. Pre TBC.  I downloaded the latest release of TBC after completely wiping all tbc from my machine we even loaded TBC 2024.12 on a completely new machine. I took a traverse that closed very tightly raw. A good field procedures traverse and a few RTK observations that checked raw pre adjustment very well.Ran the network adjustment and it produced some very strange results especially in the ALTA report for the error vs allowable error. Then after closing and opening a few new projects to test some older raw data in failed with the CSM again on both machines. I backed down to 2021.01 to be stable so far. We will see.

Honesty, who was asking for auto resection? I’ve never had the need for it. I’d rather have the choice for which control point is assigned the back sight from the resection. They flubbed not fixing that in this update instead of just switching the BS check box to fore sought only. I’ve never had the need to locate side shots WHILE performing a resection!

and the list of updates, enhancements in 2025 (not sure why their first release is called 5.1) is rather short.
