I use a database form in MS Access as a project book to catalogue my client and project information for my surveying business. Lately I've been dreaming about a possible field equation that would automatically create a hyperlink, (.kmz or .kml code), to Google Earth from the address information in my database table. I have columns in the table for "Address", "City", "State" and "Zip" and believe that someone with the know how with Access could probably create this equation using the "Address" and "Zip" fields pretty easily. I can manually create the .kmz files in GE and then copy pasted it into my field, but it would be slick if it was automatically generated in acess from my entered address. Does anyone out there already have a setup like this or know something about it?
Thanks
Kelly
I have all my projects in MS Access including the lat long from either gps shots or pulling it from MS Streets and Trips. I then export the lat/long into an ascii file and import it into Streets and Trips, maybe it could work the same way in Google Earth. It would be nice to have a direct link between the two but I don't know how to do that
I have used an online geocoding software to do that, but not on the fly, that would be cool. i would google database geocoding kml and see what s out there.
welll, here is the first thing that popped for me...

Thanks. That's a lot clearer than the link to Access furoms I found.
This can also be done real time using Trimble Access. The data can be streamed from the field back to the office and projected to Google Earth while the field crew is collecting data. Points, localizations, traverses, pictures, and even 3D laser scanning can be reviewed, adjusted, and QC'd before the crew heads back to the office. May save a trip back to the field. This works the other direction also. My supervisors can send information the other way too.
BatchGeo does a good job of this and then returns the Lat/Long of the address so it can be incorporated back into your database for future reference.
Wow that utility works great and takes no time at all. Within 15 minutes I had all my projects place marked in GE along with all the attribute info from my database for each project. I use my project database all the time to search for past projects in the area of new projects, but this sure beats that.
And it's free.
Thanks
