Does anyone know if NGS was swamped by OPUS observations from that date?
Any idea as to how many observations were submitted from across the nation?
You MIGHT be able to get a "feel" from this:
But it doesn't look too much different than a "normal" month to me.
We (actually the Tooele County Surveyor and about a dozen "volunteers") made observations on about 20 NGS Bench Marks that day, but the data is still trickling in. I have made a couple of “preliminary” OPUS submissions so far, BUT we are NOT going to submit to OPUS_DB until later this summer when the Multiyear Solution comes online, and the NAD83(2011) realization is operational.
There are also about a half-a-dozen Bench Marks that we couldn't find volunteers for (mostly 30-80 miles of dirt road from the edge of nowhere), that we still hope to occupy in the next couple of months.
The County Surveyor has taken this opportunity to do some serious Geodetic “infill” in his county (about 8000 sq. miles), and we are in contact with the NGS GEOID Team in hopes of contributing some meaningful GPS-on-Bench Mark data to aid them in the next hybrid Geoid Model. For that reason, we concentrated (to the extent possible) on Bench Marks WITH Observed Gravity values.

Howdy,
The following article from NOAA Weekly News indicates "hundreds" of participants. Hopefully better participation next time.

I just figured I've been black balled my the NGS? I did get a responce from Dave Doyle, he said he would forward to Rick Foote, but nothing from anyone in the last week???
Nice map.
Thanks for that link. It is really detailed down to the county level.
