I bought a used Topcon QS from a dealer who isn't trying to help resolve my problem. It locks onto any passing vehicle and even some stationary reflective objects. Is this an inherent problem with this model? Is it something that can be fixed? Do you know somebody who can fix it. Thanks

Are you using the prism that is meant to be used with it or the Seco point nodal one? I suggest you should use the prism designed for it.

Topcon tracks via signal strength....basically sticking you with an algorithm that says track this, track that.

Theyll say they can fix it but its in the construction of the unit.

Yep. Use a RC-4 or 5 like it was designed for. Also enables the "dog whistle".

Set the tracking to "survey". Not "machine control". The survey setting will take extra time to examine the reflection and confirm its a prism. Machine control is for very quick gotta have it immediately acquisition
