I can't get my Hiper+ to power up. A while ago, I did what the salesman warned me about. That is, plug the charger into the USB port. I can't understand how Topcon managed to design these two ports with the same connector right next to each other. Plug the charger into the correct port and you're good to go. Plug it into the wrong port because you're distracted by a phone call and you fry the receiver with hi-current 12 volts into a 5 volt USB port.

Anyway, Since it worked for a while afterward, I'm hoping that it's just batteries. Has anyone else ran into this issue?

This is one of most glaring design mistakes I've ever come across, a classic case of "what were they thinking?".

We had similar issues with our base unit about 6 months ago. We had intermittent power ups for about a week before we couldn't get it turned on.

If I'm remembering what our repairman told us correctly, the battery on the GPS board was fried and required the board to be replaced. There were several troubleshooting steps he had gone through prior to coming to that conclusion, so you may have other options yet.
