Recently having acquired a Topcon GTS-313, I find that the battery is basically toast. I have tried conditioning with the charger, fully discharging and then conditioning, fully discharging and fully charging... etc. It will last about 20 minutes and then die.

Has, or does anyone, recommend recelling your own battery? Or would it be better to send the battery to a firm who specializes in recelling? If the latter is the case do you have any recommendations for reputable and reasonable firms?

Lastly if anyone has a boatload of BT-24QW batteries and would part with one for a reasonable price, I'd be interested in a spare, since I only have the one that it came with.

TIA Jeff

It depends on the technician in the store, but most people have good luck with Batteries Plus. And their prices are good.

Thank you Dave, it appears that the closest Batteries Plus store is about a 3 hour drive for me. I'm going to have to send it off somewhere I suppose.

I have a BT24Q battery in good working order from a GTS304, that the distance meter is toasted on so in essence all I have is a theodolite. Battery holds a good charge.

Also have a Topcon BC20R for it that is in good working order.

Let me know if you are interested

Scott, yes, thanks I would be interested.

You can email me at jeffevan AT ptd DOT net, and let me know what you would have to get out of the battery and charger.

Thanks again.

surveyorbattery.com has done good work for me in the past.

Did not turn up any results, but a google search of it led me to this http://www.batteryrevival.com/ ... is this the same place?

Appears that they are based in Canada and have reasonable prices, and seem to cater to survey instruments.

That's the place.

They are in Canada, but you ship to an American address.

Thanks, I think I'll try the do it yourself method using their kit.
