I HAVE A TOPCON GR-3 2 UNIT SET. I HAVE NOTICED WHEN I COLLECT A STATIC BASE POINT WITH MY BASE UNIT, SOMETIMES I HAVE TROUBLE GETTING THE FILE FROM THE SD CARD.?ÿ I KNOW THAT THIS UNIT IS OLDER AND WAS DESIGNED TO USE A SD-CARD OF 1GB OR LESS, LIKE 512MB OR 256MB. THOSE CARDS ARE HARD TO FIND. BUT RESENTLY I PURCHASED A MICRO SD CARD SD CARD HOLDER, WITH A 2.0 USB READER.

HAS ANYONE HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH SD CARDS LIKE ME.

?ÿ

THANKS

Sounds like it is working as designed. When collecting static data to an SD card from the Topcon GR-3, the?ÿformat is NOT Windows compatible. When you place the SD card in your Windows machine, you will be prompted to format the card. They fixed this in the GR-5 and Hiper V.

You can only access the SD card with Topcon software such as Magnet Office or?ÿ TRU.

Yes

Try TRU to retrieve the files

You may also try an old version of Topcon Link.

When you install link it would add a new drive icon to your explorer specific to the Topcon SD card.

I added a serial port to the back of my computer and download using PC_CDU, but I know TRU works also.?ÿ I added the serial port to the back of my computer for something like $10.?ÿ I'm running HiperII's.

We have an old set of GR3s, don't use very often.

I use the USB download cable with PC-CDU to download them.?ÿ I think there is a driver for the USB cable.

The USB transfer is about 100 time faster than the serial transfer in my experience?ÿ

It is really slow through the serial port, I agree, but it does work and I'm not using it but a couple times a year for an OPUS check.
