I have a Topcon 3005w instrument that I used for a long time. It connected to the data collector via bluetooth.

I dropped the instrument off for repairs and intended to put it to use at the nearby university's surveying program.

There is a topcon data collector with bluetooth in the survey lab room.

My phone will recognize the collector as a bluetooth device, but not the total station. So naturally the collector does not find the station.

I never had to do anything with the bluetooth settings in the instrument before.

Anyone know off hand what I need to do to activate or enable the total station (Topcon 3005w) bluetooth?

Russ has you pointed in the right direction.

Since the GPT-3000W series was the first reflectorless model that was Bluetooth equipped, I would suspect that there is a PIN code in there. It is set to 1111 by default. You may want to reset the PIN code to be certain that you know what it is.

On the later Bluetooth models, you can elect to omit the PIN code, but on that instrument, I don't believe you can.

If the side cover was removed during the repairs, its possible the bluetooth radio was not reconnected. The bluetooth radio is mounted on the inside of the cover and is wired to the instrument. In order to completely remove the cover you need to disconnect the radio.

Been so busy that I only just checked back.

Thanks for the replies. I think the PIN code will be the item I was missing.

I'll try that out tomorrow.

Thanks again for all of the suggestions and help.
