Last fall, I posted about a job we were doing up on the St Regis River near the Idaho line. We went there today to complete the DTM of the channel. Here are a coup-le pictures of the operation. About 40 minutes after this picture was taken, the rodman went under, so we bundled him up and headed home. water temps were about 34 air temp was 37 and the snow hit hard right after I took the pics.

Yikes ! OSHA person nearby ?
Would not catch me in such a situation, kilt or no kilt !

WOW DUDE! Yea! I've been there before. What was I thinking? Just making a pay check. Would I do it again? NO! Just be Careful out there!
You need a bigger raft and one that has a floor. The Co. rents mine when we absolutely need it. Nearly identical work too.

Naturally you would be obliged to do this under high water conditions rather than the low water at the time you did the scoping.
Hard times for the rod man,
no additional set of spare clothes? I'll never get wet twice a day 🙂
But the job likes fun to do ... I'm sure the crew will remind and talk about this day for years!
thanks for sharing,
Chr.
That's funny as I was profiling a river on Monday.
Snow packed around the feet of the tripod. There's someone who's surveyed in the cold before. You can't believe how fast the instrument goes out of level when a little sun hits the metal tripod feet and they're pushed into icy ground.
You call that dinky little creek a river? Is a river something you can't jump across in wading boots?
please.... don't even get me started on this..............
well it's not full of turds and the color of cappacinno, so it's definately not the Kansas River..... 😛
those are some great pics. We're reaaly liking the pontoon. This is the 3rd time we've used it this fall/winter. The Clark Fork near Drummond, Swan east of Bigfork, and then this time on the ST Regis. It woorks good on the smaller channels.
Looks like you were enjoying good weather down there. We got about 4 inches of snow yesterday, but were able to finish. No more incidents. DTM is edited and published for the cadd monkeys to go wild with....
