I have been looking for a way to input directions as bearings rather than azimuths. Doing the conversions is easy enough, but it gets to be a pain when you have to do it over and over multiple times for a large deed plot in the field or something. I looked under the cogo options to see if there was a way to change the input from azimuth to bearing, but I didn't see a way. I also tried just typing it in with letter i.e. S45.0000W for S45°00'00"W.

Any of you trimble users have any advice?

C'mon guys....give me a little credit here....

It's version 12.46. I already tried that arrow off the input box and the only choices I have there are Calculator or Units. Units brings up the options for the angular units, but only gives choices of degrees, minutes, seconds, mils, gons.

Perhaps I need to upgrade the version of survey controller? The tech support I get is pretty lousy, so they never tell me when I need an upgrade. Once I figure it out and ask them about it they are happy to take the money though.

Trimble Survey Controller on TSC2 bearing vs azimuth

Dan, I run the same version of Trimble Survey Controller (12.46) on my TSC2.

If you go to Files - Properties of current job - Units, you'll be able to toggle between quadrant bearings and azimuths.

First, set "Azimuth format" to "Quadrant bearings"

Following the steps shown by Mr. Zapper.

Then when you click the right-pointing arrow next to the "Azimuth" field (the label does not change when you change azimuth format) you will see the four quadrants and you can click to select the proper one.

If you would prefer to key in the letters representing the quadrants instead, my quick test shows you could key in the quadrants in three different ways and get the same result -

SE20.3030 = S20.3030E = 20.3030SE

but you have to first set the azimuth format to "Quadrant bearings" or it won't work!

Glenn has unknowingly helped me a lot since . . .

. . . I found his terrific Trimble gear support pages!

I even sent him a "Thanks" email a couple of months ago. Small world.
