Good morning,
I am using a Carlson Surveyor+ with Carlson SurvCE on it with a Topcon 815A robot. I have enough problems with the quirkiness of my rig, that I'm doing everything that I know to keep productive. I've found out that if I do a hard reset of the data collector before hooking it up to the rod at the beginning of the day that I have a whole lot less problems with it.
It kinda shakes the cobwebs out.

Carl,
That's a good idea. I hate to hear that you are having issues with your robot. I am running the 8000 series, and the only real issues I have is that sometimes it takes three tries with the quick lock for it to find me if I have moved a great distance since it lost lock, (moving behind a building or small patch of weeds, etc.). Once in a great while, if traffic is behind me, I will have to reset the instrument, but that's about all.
I've been more pleased with my Topcon robot than I was with the 5603 and the 1200 smartstation.
Have a good one.
I have found the TDS Ranger I use works better with a cold boot every day.
Carlson running a Topcon robot is not a good setup. I run a 9003 using Carlson through a FC2500 and its very quirky. Carlson has it the best they can, Topcon is not giving them any help.
Hi,
Are you using the latest version of SurvCE (2.56)? I would love to have your feedback on current problems in the SurvCE Topcon total station drivers, and what can be improved. Feel free to contact me at swinter@carlsonsw.com. We are always working to improve our drivers.
