Vietnam-we invaded their country, installed a corrupt government in South Vietnam and they fought us guerrilla style because the last thing an underdog should do in an asymmetrical war is meet the enemy on the enemy's terms. We call them "____s" for their trouble.
We fought the British more or less the same way from 1774 to 1783. The most successful American Generals avoided meeting the British Army in a face to face confrontation because they couldn't win that way. For the most part the British were only able to control the Cities and where the Army happened to be at any given time but were not able to control the countryside. The Continental Army did take on the British directly in a few cases where the balance of power made it a reasonable risk such as Saratoga and Yorktown. In addition there were a few battles the British won but at huge cost.
Let’s go!
My wife and I have been there twice, with Tauck Tours. It’s an all inclusive tour for around $2500. Seriously, look them up you will be pleasantly surprised. Five star hotels and almost all meals, except for beer, dammit. Four Islands and all island air fares included.
My wife lived there for five years, as a Navy brat back in the old days, but can remember everything on Oahu(Honolulu), Hawaii(Hilo and Kona), Kauai(Napoli Coast), and of course Maui(Lahaina)
Have a great week!
I give today to you...
This is my first time here...
I love surveying not war... In your tone of writing,
I see an Idiot, Look @ Today you stupid s--t...

I thank you for your service, but at this point, you are the one that looks like a stupid s__t!
What is xi:-/ :bye:
I feel for the soldier that, through no fault of their own, drew the wrong war. The lesson of Vietnam is that we will never leave Iraq although Obama will pretend to have left Iraq.
It was in the Eastwood flick where the soldier says we're 1, 1 and 0, 1 draw, 1 loss and no wins. War is politics through other means so winning can be hard to define.
I like the 3rd statement...

Ya nailed it, Daniel. I don't owe anyone any respect for being a stupid s__t, and I don't care what they did for whom or for what reason. All I see is old c####### is well on his way to losing a lot of respect from this 'old' surveyor. I served in the U.S.military during the 70s and never called another human being a 'gook'. And I wasn't friends with anyone who did.:bad: And I don't care if anyone looks at me in a better, or worse, light for being this way. I'm sure ole c feels the same about himself. Just pointing out the difference in people.
Carry on,

Man...what has any of this got to do with Land Surveying ?
Right on Ed and Dan.
There are many vets and combat vets on here. I'm sure his remark to Rankin didn't go over well with any of them.
Beer Leg Fest 2010!!
Exactly. Let's get back on track here, guys. Beer Leg Fest 2010!!! Or maybe 2011?? Who's interested? Maybe I should start a new thread on this. 🙂
> Man...what has any of this got to do with Land Surveying ?
Duh? You and Angle,...I mean, Angglel, ......, no, I mean Angel!, need to realize, this is land surveyors communicating with land surveyors. So, the subject HAS to be "land surveying".
Seriously, this type of situation came about regularly on the old rpls.com board. I don't see it as a big whoop, myself. But, then again, everybody is different. Really, anyone here could post about any subject and before the thread is "over" we could be debating any subject. For me, that was an important part of what Mark Deal's 'dream' appeared to be. On many message boards I could start a thread stating that the world is indeed flat. And many people would agree with me. It's just another form of the magic of truly intimate communication, whether you believe it to be REAL, or not.
Take care,
Ed
My thought was regarding some of the verbiage/guest viewers. Maybe, I spend too much time wondering how Land Surveyors can upgrade their professional image in the eyes of the public.
PS "Duh?" to you, too, BooBoo.

Maybe you do, fella. I like that "booBoo" thing, though. 🙂 Yogi and BooBoo were some of my favorite cartoon characters whilst growing up.......OH!, and Quicksdraw McQ(r)uaw!...Spelling? 😛 !
Take care,

Well, I guess certain racial terms are OK until someone makes a point about them.
Just for the record, to anyone who saw them before they were deleted, I don't use those words.
