Cool thanks for sharing.velocity would also affect the GPS clocks.

This was discussed as a seminar I attended once and found very interesting. GPS has proven Einstein's therory about time and space. They said that if the clocks on the GPS satellites were not adjusted there would be a positional error of about 60 miles because of the difference in time on earth vs time at the satellites.

I'm with Dr. Mungnier on this. I think Dr. Tyson got his units messed up.

I don't claim to be an expert on the topic and I could certainly be wrong, but that is the number I remember being stated. As you said, it is possible that the speaker made a mistake as well.

In Mr. Schrock's post, the article claims 12km=7.45645 miles....

not quite 60, but more than millimeters....
