This post is not meant to denigrate the other board, just an observation.
I have noticed several questions asked by fellow surveyors in the surveying forums on the other board, some that have been there for several days, that don't have even one response. In the old days these types of questions would have had many replies. I can't help but think that it has to do with the compartmentalized nature of the new site, it just takes too much time to navigate around.

I agree. I got an email that said someone left me a message there, but it was no where to be found when I logged in. I didn't recognize the 'handle'. I think it was Susan4U. hmmmmm.

That was a spam message that Kristi deleted. When I go to the site it says I have a message, but that message is now gone. Others have made the same observation.

I know they are still working on bugs, but I think the real problem is the compartmentalization.
The Susan incident was some spammer who signed up and sent that to every member before getting booted off.
Edit: I see several of us replied redundantly before seeing the other replies.
The compartmentalization is indeed one of their big problems, which has frequently been complained about, but they seem to be stuck with something very close to the initial organization. The best way to look at it seems to be with the "last 150 posts" view.

At their current level of activity that only gives me a page or two to scan through if I check it a couple times a day, but if there was as much traffic as this board that would push stuff I hadn't seen pretty far down the list. That needs to be a "Last 50 threads that have been posted to" list.
Their speed was a problem for a while, but hasn't been as bad lately.
I got that message too. Apparently the site got hit with some porno spam the other day. If it happens again I will probably ask Kristi to erase my account. I try viewing the "other site" every so often hoping somehow it will be easier to navigate. Just wishful thinking on my part. Thank you Wendell for providing this site for us to use.

The "all activity" page on the other board shows a total of 8 posts to the survey forum so far today.
Are you certain it was not Deral's "Patron Saintess" Susan Sarandon trying to escape the clutches of the dreaded AFDB Monster?

Many of us have limited time, so I have personally decided that this forum will be the only place where I post messages, pictures, etc. This type of message board works the best for me where I can quickly scroll down and see all new posts without having to go to different areas. I enjoyed the other site until it got changed.

D.J., I am not sure how the other place/board? works as I don't ever go there out of respect for my husband, but I can tell you at THIS place, when I see there is a question asked by someone and it goes w/o an answer for a certain amount of time, I will go and bump it up in the hopes that the person gets their Q answered by their fellow peers. It might take a few bumps but eventually that person gets their Q answered by someone who has that particular knowledge.
It's the right thing to do and you guys are the best at what you do and it only makes sense to help each other, if we can & when we can.

I understand, and that type of personal touch is appreciated. I just meant that the posts over there haven't moved so far down the page as to need to be bumped, they just don't have the traffic that we have here.

I would not consider visiting another internet site in and of itself as infidelity. I know Wendell is registered over there but not having figured out the new search routine (if there is one), will not search for you.
It would be wrong for Wendell or you to tout this site by posting on the other site, but there is plenty of legitimate interaction that might occur.

The other website used to be simple, quick, and informative. Now it is an over-compartmentalized convoluted mess.
But making it even worse is that some of the remaining posters attack people viciously, almost habitually. The Lounge exacerbates the problem on that site.
I sincerely hope that the one of threads on this site will remain on a more professional level and constructive than the other board has become.

Yea, Angel = Noodles. I thought it would sound better if I went by my real name. Should I go back to Noodles???
Well, Wendell wouldn't care if I went over there and visited & posted, it is just me. *I* choose to not go there. It's a lot to do with personal reasons and threats made upon my husband and I just don't feel like it would be the right thing to do to go and visit over there after all that.
I am sure it's a great place and if I ever was a person that contributed there I would not ever gloat and rub it in about this place VS that place, etc... That isn't right and it isn't me. I just want everyone to be happy in wherever they decide to visit, here or there or Mars for that matter. 🙂
PS: I hope I didn't offend anyone. That was not my intention.
