TDS Survey GX loads well. 512k RAM card is recognized in Port2.
Attempts to Open/Edit job files results in program exiting.
Any ideas about accessing the RAM card files?
Thanks

Most, though not all, of the 512K RAM cards I have seen are ones with the internal battery that cannot be changed. If it happens to be one of the ones that has a replaceable battery and it is not giving an "Invalid Card Data in Port 2" warning, then it may be presumed that the battery is good.

I suspect that the program needs to be re-installed on the calculator.

You accomplish this by removing both card (calculator off, please).

Then with the card out, turn on the calculator and then simultaneously press the ON, A & F keys. You should get an annunciator that asks if you wish to recover memory. Select [No]. All the memory you want to retain is on the cards.

Then before initiating the install routine, press and hold the [ON] key and then add the [SPC] key (the key to the right of the decimal key). When you release the two keys, the calculator should beep and go off. The operation restores the calculator to factory default settings.

Then insert the program card into Port 2 where the memory card normally lives. Turn the calculator on the press the alpha key twice and then type in TDS48 and hit enter.

The calculator should display [Installing Library]. There will be a prompt to turn the calculator off. Having turned the calculator off, move the Survey GX card to Port 1 and insert the RAM card into Port 2.

Turn the calculator on the press the alpha key twice and then type in TDS48 and hit enter. Remember that doing to above operation will erase your total station settings so they will need to be reset.

Go to [G] for Open/Edit Job. If your jobs are still there, the install of the program just needed freshening. If they are not, they were already gone anyhow.

Thanks much, JerryS
Yes, I've tried all of your steps for the 512Ram card.
The word is that the card is toast.
I did read on a post that Corvallis can retrieve data from a card, and send a cd back with the data. I'm not sure if that can be done in a timely manner, or if the post may have been way too old, and that process is no longer supported.
Let me know if you've heard of the process happening recently.
Thanks, again
YLS

It can take a couple of fresh battery refills and a couple of days for the data card to recharge a premium ram card with out battery onboard.

The last TDS 48GX card I had was a battery hog and had to be used with a ram card with onboard battery or it would not perk.

1MB Card

Good Luck

The HP calculator group in Corvallis got shut down many years ago, read this page for a bit more information

You could try posting on this forum as I think that might be the best place to get some good information.
