I have an old 512k ram card. It is the the type that does not show a picture of a battery on it. Do they have a have a battery and if so, can they be replaced? Error message pops up 'warning invalid card data" or something like that. Thanks in advance for your input.

The card will be powered thru the HP48. Can cause it to be battery hungry.

Must initialize or format the card before you can store any data.

Do this by on
Main menu select [G]open Edit Job
Job menu select [K] Save & Recall Job
prompt will appear for type of HP48
HP48GX select [G]
HP48SX select [H]
if you receive "Invalid Card Data" warning press [ON] and [C] at the same time and restart the program
Return to Save & Recall JOb screen
select either
[G] save an existing job to the ram
[H] restore a job from the Ram Card
delete a job from ram
a list of jobs will appear

What A Harris said. If there's not a slot in the top of the card it doesn't have a battery. Sometimes when they get old the connections will get dirty or loose and it will start giving you the "invalid card data" warning.
