I'm having trouble getting a SUUNTO compass/clinometer case.
The one pictured above, is what I want. I wear a wide belt, and the one above allows enough slop to move about, as I crawl through the woods.
The ones I am able to buy, have the BELT LOOP riveted on. They are TOO tight on the belt, and break.
Anyway, can you tell me where to get one like the one in the pic?

Thank you,

N

What are the dimensions of the case? I might have a pile of those.

total outside dims:
3-1/8" wide
4" tall
1" thick (Belt loop incl.)

2-1/16" wide
3-1/8" tall, (It would be this tall, when on belt, and standing up)
9/16" thick.

I've just ordered an AWL with needles, to do repairs.
I used to get these, and they would last 10 yrs. +.
Now a days, well, they are making these things for folks that "Don't really use them". Poorly made.

Roll your own, Nate. I was very fortunate with this one, the friction fit was perfect. When I got done, I made a Turk's Head from thick gannion line. Don't leave home without it.

Single piece of leather, bent at the bottom, seamed at the sides. Belt loop is vertical cuts.

They sent me one for a BRUNTON.
LOOSE fit on a suunto.
very poor belt strap.
It's an insult to good surveyors, everywhere...

I have several of those... the riveted on belt strap breaks loose... from bending over, and all the action it sees. The FRONT part is fine. The belt loop needs repair. I have ordered an AWL (A device to hand stitch leather) and bought some leather. I think it may look a little clumsy, but it will be tough....
Thanks though.

Just FYI I did find a couple of these (see pic) in my archives and they had a Suunto clinometer in them. Not quite the size you were looking for though. If they might work, just let me know and I can hook you up.

What's wrong with the Suunto
Nylon belt case?

I have the leather rivet case and the corduroy nylon. I use the nylon.
I have a Silvia ranger case that is leather and is 35 years old in vg condition.
I use to take leather goods that needed repair to a shoemaker. They had all the appropriate tools and machines.
