1. This post should be filed under employment.
2. Candidates need to know where in the world "XXXXXXxxxxxx" is located.

My guess is that the OP didn't put this up to help someone find a position, rather to make the point that $12/hour and no benefits isn't going to be very beneficial for the profession as a whole in attracting the right candidates "to pursue a career in Land Surveying." I could be wrong thought, ask my wife - she'll tell you it's a common occurrence.
I as well have been known to be wrong, just about every day.
However, for the record, "xxxxxxxxx does offer a benefits package."
$12/hour is low in this day and age, but I'm not surprised by the rate, given the current economy and the assumption that the new hire will be green or very close to green.
Pretty sure it says $12 and benefits. I don't think that's out of line for an entry level position. Especially one with such a low bar of entry. Maybe they are just seeing what the pool of possible employees looks like right now.

Hmmmm...I seem to have a reading comprehension problem today. Feel free to ignore anything I may have previously posted 😉
Now imagine reading that after finishing your (soon to be required) BA in geomatics.

We always do, Jim...we always do. :-O
:good:
No kidding, not to mention the student loans to pay off.
Says $12-15 here

(My first job out of college was $16/hr (and I thought I had made back then), but that was in 1999, this job does not require a degree.)

When I finished at NMSU in 1999, I know that in New Mexico, the starting wage was LESS than the job I left in Illinois to get my degree. Fortunately, the market in the rest of the country was super, and I had my pick of jobs basically anywhere we wanted.
I think they are just trolling a little to see who might be interested enough to respond. I hope that if they get resumes of experienced people, the rate would increase. but who knows.

If You get a BA in geomatics, you have attended the wrong institute of higher education. It had better be a BS. Most BA degrees are about as useful a teats on a boar hog. IMHO

It is all relative to your part of the country. I would imagine in my neck of the woods $12 an hour plus benefits could get you someone with experience (if there are any left. But then again the median family income here is somewhere south of 40k per year. Highest welfare and teen pregnancy rates in the state. 3:1 D to R ratio (not starting an argument, just stating facts whether they be related or not)
Good point JB...I think starbucks pays more, and I know for a fact Costco does...plus health insurance...and no college debt required.:-|
