Provincetown, or Ptown as we call it around here, is an odd little fishing/artist community at the very tip of Cape Cod. Internationally famous for it's LBGTQ community also. We do a fair amount of work there, currently I have 5 projects going on now. This particular project is between some feuding neighbors. I actually don't understand the argument but I was engaged to preform a topographic survey of both parcels.

The tide can be important in Ptown. As this photo shows me taking advantage of low tide to occupy the flats so I could get some landward shots for the extreme ends of the developed lots.

This next picture is a good example of the development along the harbor in Ptown. That is the Provincetown Monument sticking out of my new robot! Remember that Provincetown is actually the first landing spot in the "New World" for the pilgrims and Miles Standish. After landing here they moseyed on to Truro where the pilgrims stole a stash of corn from the Indians and then on to Eastham where the pilgrims ran into some pissed off Indians and were run off. The Pilgrims made their way across Cape Cod Bay to Plymouth.

Of course while rooting around under the pilings you see some odd stuff, like this concrete "piles" with easter island heads!

This is a view of both lots, and the angry neighbor gates and fence. As I said earlier, I don't know the "meat" of the argument and how it relates to me.

Seems odd that the client would not have told you what the dispute was about. Usually can't get them to stop talking about that sort of thing.

Are these registered lots? Did you see the recent Appeals Court ruling on Brown v. Kalicki - littoral accretions to registered land? Interesting to see if it gets appealed to the SJC, as one of the AC judge's dissented.

HI Peter, The client talked about a bunch of stuff, non-survey related, and there are plenty of stories and rumors flying about town, but nothing survey related. As near as I can tell it's a fishing expedition.

Cool area to survey in spite of the neighborly discord. Did a couple of surveys just up the road in Truro where we found some Bounds from a L.C. survey significantly out of position and didn't appeared to have been moved. /also in that area, difficult to use old reference ties from buildings to find control monuments as they have a habit of moving the buildings around from significant storms. Enjoy and grab some hot chowder while you are there.

For a mere 500 grand you can get a 267 square foot condo!

Hey Ric, Were you part of the survey crew that I saw on the highway up in Truro and Wellfleet last week? Where do you work out of?

Dave, those three shacks on the end of the pier were only $110K each, and they are about 120 S.F. apiece.

The one I saw is almost on the water right in the middle of town...so that would be a lot more. Actually Cape Cod in general is more affordable than comparable California coastal areas.

Did you at least get a good breakfast at the Post Office (if it's still there)?

No, I was surveying there 1986-1989 mostly during the off cape season
