Lol probably so true. Not closets back then. Probably rolled back up and packed away for the next Sunday go to meeting. Closets were not needed like they are now days. Most had work clothe set and a dress set. Not much else was needed. Today we have clothes for every day that ends in Y squared. Lol . We have so much now days. In a pretty wealthy area of Africa I was amazed how much more I had as a non wealthy person here in the USA have vs what they had. Other countries the same. We really are spoiled more than we realize for sure. Hopefully we all don’t take it for granted and continue the hard work and pass it along to the next generations.

That stopped providing safety decades ago. Look at ANSI class II safety vests. I don’t have much need for pockets anymore. I used to carry field book, 6 foot ruler, lumbar crayon, metal probe, plumb bob. I carry none of that anymore, they aren’t needed most times.

That solid color vest is perfectly valid for off-road work. The ANSI stuff applies mainly to work in roadways or other places where there are moving vehicles.

"Filson still makes the cruiser vest"

If they still make the orange surveyor's version, they're not very interested in selling it. I wasn't able to find it on their website.

I have had some stuff over the years from Filson. Always seemed to be quality material and hold up well.

I am really thinking of getting my wife’s Aunt to just make me what I want. She is very good at that stuff. I will have to brine her well. Maybe send the girls up to stay with her for a week. She looked at my vest once and said she thought she could probably do something like it and make it from some durable material. I am not to worried about the ANSI certs for most of what I want it for. I have a flemsy one i can always throw on for those occasions. I really don’t know why orange or yellow alone are not sufficient. All the reflective tape grey is great at dark but with the way people text and drive I think flashing lights would not help much. I almost got hit this morning and i was 5 foot off the side of road . Two of us as a bleep came off the shoulder probably texting or fumbling with coffee lid. And it was cold so I couldn’t move to fast 😂. I need grease zirts installed in my joints so it doesn’t take so long to get them working properly in the mornings. I told my chief he and i needed that oil can from wizard of oz. He said yep.

You know, hazards don’t tell you when the are coming. You’ll forget the type of vest you’re wearing, then you go to locate something in the road or cross it. That’s the same reason to always wear safety glasses.
