survce/survpc - feedback on working with leica 1100 robotic

I would assume that you don't have the 1100 with the power search option? SurvCE works fine with my 1103

I drove an 1105 with SurvCE on an Allegro CX with Piranni's for a fair amount of time and found it to be pretty smooth. I didn't have power search on the 1105 so found using the EGL's a much better method of getting locked back on when it was lost. When that didn't work making sure I was on the correct side of the instrument before starting a search saved it from spinning 350 degrees before hitting me and being 50+ feet away helped a lot. Hi Berk, yep my 1103 doesn't have powersearch. The rugged tablet I'm planning on hooking up has an internal gps chip so I'm hoping to incorporate that into the search function. I'm assuming this will then search similar to the tsc3 on the trimbles.

Hi Cameron, what do you mean by EGL's? Not a term I've come across on this side of the world.

Do you guys set the search Window to 10degrees x 10degrees?

EGL = Electronic Guide Lights. They are the red and yellow flashing lights above the scope. If it loses lock they start flashing. If you can see both colors flashing together then you're pretty close to being online whereas if you can only see one color you're too far on one side or the other. When you get good at using them you should be able to narrow your search window down by half that I would think.

Makes sense, on this side of the world they are referred to as tracking lights. Fair bit of terminology different here. Rod is pogo, gun is jigga. It's interesting reading some of the topics and fields such as cadastral seem to have similar processes but still some different techniques and procedures. We are all ultimately Surveyors tho!

If you are running with power search, you won't need to define a search window. I waited for the power search option before I bought the 1103. I don't use the EGL's.
