Hey Guys, thanx in advance for sharing your knowledge.
I am indexing some old field books from a County Surveyor from 1915 or so.
The title of one page is "Miridiograph Observations"
He notes the time; altitude of lower limb of sun; Angle Rt.;
Dec. cor. (0 degrees, 15 minutes); Bearing of Sun
He apparently repeated his observations 5 times.
I have googled "Miridiograph" and get no hits. I am wondering if this isn't a colloquial term for something else.
And while I am at it, if anybody knows anything about a "meander board", I would appreciate whatever information you have.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanx again.

a meander board is what Andy use to ride in Palm Springs when he said he was at one job site but was actually at another;-)
Inside joke...
The Meridograph is actually ...
a circular slide rule that is used to solve for azimuth to the sun when using the Altitude method. I have one in my collection along with the instructions. It was made by Ross.
The K&E slide rule model 4102 also did the same thing, but it is a linear slide rule.
Both of these negated the need for calculator or lots of long hand math and trig tables.
