Anyone get a quote and/or know if it's shipped as advertised (6 constellations, GMS modem, Internal Radio, etc.), or is there an upgrade cost to turn various items on?

I've heard round numbers, 12.5K for the receiver only, 14K for the receiver with the added 2w TX/RX UHF radio module.

More spiel on the specifics of the SP80

That says all firmware options are enabled by default. That's pretty sweet.

Everything is enabled by default. And it works.

I spent Saturday and Sunday playing around with one unit. Under the big Colorado Blue Spruce in front of the office with a 3KM baseline to the CORS at my house.

I was tracking a couple of Galileo SV's Saturday and I verified that I can get a GLONASS only fix.

Actually in the afternoon (around 3:00 pm), in front of the office I could only see 4 US SV's so a mixed GLONASS fix was required.

The SP80 has amazing TTFF. The PM800 was good, the SP80 is way better.

The built in WiFi in the head works flawlessly. And it frees up the Bluetooth channel to the data collector so the readings are snappy.

The case construction is great. The access to SD card and SIM card through the rubber bumper is excellent.

Here are 'official' list prices for US market:

PN 94334-00; SP80 GNSS Single Receiver Kit $12,495

PN 94334-50; SP80 GNSS Single Receiver Kit with UHF 430-470 MHz 2W TRx; $13,995

The SP80 is supported by the latest versions of FAST Survey and SurvCE. (More on latest versions...later.)

I think that most operators would purchase two 94334-50 receivers. Other than antenna (need to be purchased separately for frequency), they would make a complete base rover pair, including all required cables, batteries, poles and accessories (other than a tripod for the base.)

Some of the other stuff (like email and theft protection) will be standard on all receivers soon. They just make sense.

I have another shipment of SP80 parts arriving tomorrow (supposedly) so I will have additional information then.

The anti-theft and e-mail features of this receiver are awesome - it's about time someone incorporated that. I'm amazed that Trimble hasn't implemented any anti-theft protections yet.

Well, I hate to burst this bubble, but Spectra Precision is Trimble. Here is a picture of the box that SP80's are delivered in:

That there is great competition between Trimble and Spectra Precision dealers is no secret. It is all we can do to not burst into fist fights when our paths cross. I liken the relationship to that of step-brothers who have great resentment of the marriage of their parents.

But that said, there is a Trimble team and I guess we are all sitting on the same bench.

I'm fully aware that both Ashtech and Spectra are part of Trimble... that's what makes it even more mind boggling that Trimble hasn't incorporated this into their new stuff.

And in typical Trimble fashion, the Ashtech/Spectra receivers won't interface to Trimble Access, which also chaps my behind. We have 35 Access data collectors, so we're basically locked out of using this receiver.

I'm surprised you can even sell Trimble product where you are located.
