Does anyone make a long range bluetooth adapter that is self contained and/or more like a repeater, instead of one that hooks into the USB or serial port?

I was thinking it could use the low-power bluetooth to the DC and the long range to the instrument.

I'm afraid I'd break or lose one that plugs in, not to mention you lose some water-proofing with the rubber bung open.

The Industrial XR will apparently do what you suggest - take the low power signal from the datacollector and re-transmit it on to the gun and vice versa, acting as a go between. But it is definitely not "plug and play". You need to know how to program them using some obscure windows program.
I bought one - dismally failed - and sold it for a loss to some 18 year old computer nerd..:pissed:

I was going to carry it in my vest pocket - it might work

I wonder if the nerd could get it working reliably? 😉

I was thinking about keeping it in a pouch on the rod.
