I need a new source for my older GPS battery clips. The batteries are the older lead-acid Panasonic camcorder types that Trimble and some others used. I have a big stock of batteries and chargers, but the clips that I use in the field are aging, and I need to replace several of them. The original ones I got from Topcon held up the best, they are a Safco brand. Never ever been able to find those. I replaced those with a another style that isn't branded. The only ones I can find in the last couple of years were the Bescor MT-S1. First bought them for $5, then $10, now can only find them for $16ea, and I need a ton of them as they only last about a year.
The clips are here: Bat Clips
The batteries here:
Battery
Can anyone point me to a supplier for better clips, or a cheaper alternative?
Thanks!
If the end that plugs into the receiver is good, you might could rig this up to work.
I just happen to have 290 pieces of a Safco cable assembly here.
If these will work for you mebbe we can make a deal.
These are what Pacific Crest sold years ago as their P/N C00736. Pacific Crest stopped stocking them so I bought a production run from Safco.
These have the Safco/Panasonic clip on one end and the SAE male/female connector on the other end. Overall length about 24 inches. The conductor is the 20 AWG zip cord.
You can contact me by e-mail through the e-mail link above.

Hope this does not violate any board rules -
As stated in my earlier post above, I have 290 cable assemblies like:
on hand for immediate sale.
These were made by Safco Corporation of Skokie, Illinois in 2002. Pacific Crest formerly sold this product for $10.00 each as their P/N C00736.
It has the the Safco/Panasonic battery clip on one end and the SAE male/female connector on the other end. Overall length about 24 inches. The conductor is the 20 AWG zip cord.
Will sell as follows (subject to prior sale) -
All 290 pieces - $175.00
200 pieces - $150.00
100 pieces - $100.00
50 pieces - $80.00
20 pieces - $50.00
10 pieces - $35.00
All prices include UPS ground or US Postal Service delivery to the continental United states and are for prepayment. Will have to add and collect sales tax for delivery to Wyoming addresses. No credit cards or PayPal, sorry.
Contact me via e-mail link above if you have any questions.

Oooooo. Those are the good ones I first had, not the junk I overpaid for afterwards.
That is why I love this site, scour the net for hours upon hours, and could not find those darn things, one post here and a couple of hours later I got exactly what I needed.
Glen, e-mail on the way - I'm taking 50 of those bad boys!
Looks like you found the battery clips you need.
What has your experience been with the batteries you purchased from the site you linked? I occassionally need to buy these batteries for my older GPS equipment. Seems the ones I have bought recently don't last very long.
My first cell phone used that type of battery clip on it's battery charger....They were crap.
Sorry John, I have looked and looked, and can't find the last place I bought those batteries. That website was just a reference to a picture. Over the years, I have got them from my survey supplier, then Amazon, and this last time I just searched the net for a good deal. I know I used google shopping: http://www.google.com/search?q=pan88+battery&hl=en&sa=N&biw=1131&bih=526&tbs=p_ord:p&tbm=shop&ei=nwzATbH6GMPr0QGVyoSeBQ&ved=0CAoQuw0oAQ
Key is to search for the PAN88, or PV-BP80 or BP88 batteries. They are 12v, 2300mAh. I have gotten them branded as Interstate, no-mem (purple) and the last ones are Lenmar. They are all exactly the same, just different stickers on them, so just look for a good deal.
I made my own harnesses, and hook 2 of these together, and wired that into the GPS plug. 2 of these batteries gives me 10+ hours of runtime (8+ in the winter) running older Javad/Topcon Odyssey receivers for static work. If you need more run time, look into wiring them in parallel, which should almost double your runtime - and now that we have a source for the clips - we can do that!!
Thanks for the follow-up. I agree that the Panasonic batteries are the best. I had drifted away from them with my last couple of purchases.
