For many people, having a Government job means benefits and security plus halfway decent money.?ÿ However, certain job constraints come with that work.?ÿ This is especially true for those who must deal with the public face-to-face.

Yesterday I was researching four jobs in the vault at a Register of Deeds Office.?ÿ Hidden from view but within earshot of conversations at the front desk of the main office.?ÿ A couple walked in and said they wanted to do something with respect to a currently filed deed (missed exactly what).?ÿ The Register of Deeds told them it wasn't that simple.?ÿ So, she began explaining the process.?ÿ OH, HELL, NO!?ÿ They wanted it done then and there, on the spot.?ÿ She politely repeated the legal steps required.?ÿ OH, HELL, NO!?ÿ She attempted to explain why she could not do what they wanted.?ÿ OH, HELL, NO!?ÿ She's been doing this for over 20 years so she tried her best to be courteous and helpful so recommended they speak with so-and-so.?ÿ OH, HELL NO!?ÿ YOU WILL DO IT RIGHT NOW AND HOW WE SAY TO DO IT!?ÿ They kept at this for nearly 30 minutes, finally leaving while FURIOUS, but not before saying a lot of really nasty things.?ÿ Both of them needed a punch in the nose.

Just reading the gospel according to prior surveyors plus doing the title company's job for them.

@holy-cow?ÿ

Years ago I worked for a surveyor that always did his "research" at the courthouse on hot afternoons.?ÿ There was a "reading room" adjacent to the county clerk's office where one could sit down at a table in cool quiet with records books.?ÿ There was also a lazy ceiling fan and a water glugger you could get cool sips with folded paper cups.

This surveyor would prop himself up at the corner of the table and take a nap.?ÿ His instructions to me were, "Wake me up at four".

I was too young to appreciate an afternoon nap back then.?ÿ What a shame...
