Parani sd1000. They work very well with my Rangers and the Topcon GPT8005A

Aloha, Jimmy: The setup with short bipod and Ranger looks pretty cute! I found your other thread the rod rest. You really like this setup! 🙂

Thanks for the this suggestion. Just to confirm...this the one you mentioned above right? Price is significantly cheaper too.

That's the one!

Good to know, thanks.
For some reason when we use the GPS it is usually with a bipod, when we use the robot we use the Rod Rest

I have used a Rod-Rest exclusively since the first ad I saw for one many years ago in Lo-Ink catalog. Have worn out several. Works fine with my R8 and TSC3 on it. I use the same rod for robot and GPS, modified so the graduations read correctly for the prism. All the way down is 5.50 for the prism ht, raised to read 2m for GPS makes the bottom of the R* at 6.12'. Rod-Rest works fine at that height, but not much higher.

But I like to rely on the bi-pod for steady rod shots, it looks like the gardner rod rest does not provide any stability while actually taking a shot, leaving you to bounce around in the wind.
